It tells the story that there was a trial in which two women were fighting motherhood of a baby. The two shared single mothers room, and each gave birth to a child on the same day. At night, while sleeping one of the mothers, by accident as he turned in bed smothered her baby. Upon waking in the night and see his son lying cold and still, took the baby from her roommate who was still asleep, placing the dead baby instead. When the other woman woke up and saw her dead baby, began to mourn for the pain of their loss. Soon, after examining the child, the woman realized it was not his son, noting that his own son was in the arms of his companion. In this situation the two women went to the king, to seek justice for this. King Solomon, to know which one was right, gave his sword to a soldier and ordered him to halve the creature, to give half to each.

Judgment of Solomon, The Book of Kings (3: 16-28).
The real mother then begged the king not to kill the child and hand him over to the other woman. With this test, Solomon knew without a doubt which of the two lying showing his great wisdom and justice, delivering the child to its rightful mother.

"All Israel knew the judgment which the king had issued, and all admired him, seeing that there was a divine wisdom with which he could do justice."

Solomon wrote many wise things God taught in the book of Proverbs in the Bible. In this book, Solomon wrote that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the holy is understanding."
